Request an estimate
We insulate and air seal attics, walls and crawl spaces for Simi Valley homeowners who are tired of hot upstairs rooms, drafts and a power bill that keeps climbing.
Simi Valley is home for us, and most of our working days are spent in attics and crawl spaces here. Visitors know the city for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, with hundreds of artifacts across 18 galleries. Locals also know Strathearn Historical Park & Museum, six acres of historic buildings where you can tour the Simi Adobe, counted as the city's oldest structure.
Around those places are neighborhoods with houses of every age, and the calls we get from them sound alike: a hot upstairs, a drafty room over the garage, or a new owner who wants to know what's above the ceiling. I started this business here to answer those questions in plain words, and the same work takes us into the cities around Simi Valley.

Insulation contractor services in Simi Valley, CA
A&L Simi Valley Insulation Services is an insulation contractor in Simi Valley, and our 16 services all aim at rooms that hold their temperature instead of fighting a draft. Sometimes that means sealing the attic and topping it up, and sometimes it means pulling out old material or insulating the crawl space under cold floors. The price mostly turns on the size of the space, how hard it is to reach, what's already up there and whether you choose foam or loose fill. The schedule turns on whether old insulation has to come out first and whether a roof leak or old wiring needs fixing before we start. On the estimate I walk the space with you and put the scope in writing, so you know what your own job involves.
Spray foam insulation
Spray foam goes on as a liquid and expands to fill the space, so it insulates and seals air in one pass. It costs more than loose fill, and it earns that most when your ductwork runs through the attic.
Attic insulation
Is it hot upstairs while the rest of the house feels fine? We seal the leaks in your attic first, then bring the insulation up to an even depth, edges included.
Blown-in insulation
Blown-in insulation is loose fill blown through a hose, so it settles into corners and around framing that batts can't reach. It's our usual way to top up an attic that already has some insulation.
Home insulation
Not sure where your house is losing heat? We look at the attic, walls and crawl space together and tell you which one to deal with first.
Insulation removal
When old insulation was soaked by a leak or is full of droppings, new material on top just buries the problem. We take it out and clean the space so the new layer starts fresh.
Crawl space insulation
Cold floors usually mean the crawl space under them is open or thinly insulated. We insulate between the floor framing so the rooms above feel warmer underfoot.
Wall insulation
We fill exterior walls that have little or nothing inside them, usually through small holes we patch afterward. It's a good fit for older homes where the rooms along an outside wall never feel right.
Air sealing services
Air sealing means closing the gaps around pipes, wires, lights and the attic hatch before insulation goes in. It's the step that lets the rest of the job do its work.
Basement insulation
Have a basement or below-grade room that never warms up? We insulate its walls so it feels like part of the house instead of a cold room you avoid.
Closed-cell foam insulation
Closed-cell foam is a dense foam that blocks moisture as well as heat. It suits crawl spaces and tight spots where you need a lot of insulation in very little depth.
Open-cell foam insulation
Open-cell foam is softer and lighter than closed-cell, and it fills rooflines and walls well. We use it where sealing air and cutting noise matter more than stopping moisture.
Commercial insulation
We insulate and air seal offices, shops and small commercial buildings. Before we schedule, we talk through your hours and where the crew can work without getting in the way.
Crawl space vapor barrier
We lay a heavy plastic sheet over the dirt in your crawl space and seal it at the seams and walls. That keeps ground moisture away from the framing and the floor above.
Vapor barrier installation
A vapor barrier is a sheet that keeps moisture from moving into a wall, floor or ceiling. We put one where your house needs it and tell you plainly where one doesn't belong.
Attic air sealing
Recessed lights, plumbing pipes, the hatch and the tops of inside walls all leak air into the attic. We seal those gaps with foam and caulk so the insulation over them isn't fighting a draft.
Retrofit insulation
Just bought an older house and want to know what's above the ceiling? We add or replace insulation in a finished home through the attic, walls or crawl space, opening up as little as the house allows.
What you can expect when you call us
I do every estimate myself, with photos
I come out to every estimate, take photos of what I find and walk you through them in plain words. You understand your own house before you decide anything. If I can't explain why a step is needed, it doesn't go on the estimate.
Leaks, wiring and old insulation checked before the quote
We look for roof leaks, old wiring and suspect insulation before we price anything, so problems show up on paper instead of halfway through the job. If the roof or the wiring needs fixing first, I'll tell you that rather than cover it with new insulation.
Gas appliances flagged when we tighten the house
Sealing leaks makes a house warmer, and it also changes how much outside air reaches a gas furnace or water heater. When we tighten up a house, we flag any gas appliances that should get a venting check, so a warmer home stays a safe one.

About A&L Simi Valley Insulation Services
I started A&L Simi Valley Insulation Services in Simi Valley in 2023, after years running crews and writing estimates for another insulation contractor. We're fully licensed and insured, and we offer 16 insulation services across the 12 cities on this site and others nearby. We're best known for attic work done in the right order, with the leaks sealed before any insulation goes in. You can read how I got here and how we work on our about page.
Tell us what's going on above your ceiling
Describe the room or the space that's bothering you, and we'll get back to you to set a time for me to come out. I look at the space with you and explain what I found before anything goes in writing.
(805) 261-5026Getting your attic ready for our crew
Clear a path to the attic hatch or crawl space door and move whatever's stored right under it, because that's where we carry material in and run hoses, and if the hatch is in a closet, empty the shelves below it. If you have pets, plan where they'll stay that day, since the doors will be open and the crew will be going in and out.

What careful insulation work looks like
Insulation questions from Simi Valley homeowners
How much does attic insulation cost in Simi Valley?
It depends on your attic, so I give you a number after I've been up there instead of over the phone. How many inches are already there and whether old material has to come out first move the price the most. You get the scope and the price in writing after the visit.
Does insulation work need a permit in Simi Valley?
It can, so check with the city's Building and Safety Division at (805) 583-6723 before work starts. The city requires a permit before remodeling or adding to a home, and that office answers home improvement permit questions. If your job needs one, we file it with the city or county office for your address and meet the inspector, or I'll walk you through it if you'd rather pull it yourself.
Does an insulation contractor need a license in California?
Yes, in most cases. The Contractors State License Board requires a state license when the project needs a building permit, uses employee labor, or the contracts total $1,000 or more in labor and materials, and the contractor has to hold it before bidding. Ask for the license number before you sign anything.
Do we have to leave the house while you insulate the attic?
Usually not for blown-in insulation or air sealing, though it gets noisy and dusty near the hatch. Spray foam is different, so you, the kids and the pets stay out until the re-entry time, the point when it's safe to come back inside, and I give you that before the job starts.
Should old attic insulation be removed before adding new?
Only when it's been soaked by a leak, is full of droppings or is otherwise damaged, because new material over it keeps the problem in place. Clean, dry insulation can usually stay, and we add to it after sealing the gaps. My photos show you which case your attic is.
Is spray foam better than blown-in insulation for an attic?
Usually not worth the extra cost in an attic, unless your ductwork runs up there. Foam costs more and seals air as it insulates, but sealing the gaps and topping up with loose fill does the job well in most attics. When the ducts live in the attic, foam at the roofline puts them on the warm side, and that's where I'd spend the money.
Can new insulation cause moisture problems in the attic?
It can if the vents along the eaves get buried, because the attic stops breathing and moisture starts showing up in the framing. We keep those vents clear with baffles, small chutes that hold the insulation back from the vent openings.
Do you work in cities outside Simi Valley?
Yes, we work across the cities around Simi Valley in Ventura County and the nearby parts of Los Angeles County. If you're not sure we cover your city, just ask when you call (805) 261-5026.
